• Question: Would you describe your job as stressful, if so, which parts?

      It can be stressful sometimes, particularly when something isn’t working or when there’s a lot to do and not much time to do it!

      I think a PhD can be very stressful! You’re trying to answer a question which hasn’t been answered before, so trying to find the right experiments to do can be difficult. Also, often your experiments don’t work which can be really stressful!

      I think the most stressful part of my two jobs is feeling like you don’t have enough time to do your best. This can be stressful but where I’ve worked there has always been a colleague or friend I could ask for support.

      yes without a doubt, and especially since having kids – it always feels a struggle to balance things and have time to do everything properly. I try and keep a sense of perspective though – it’s not as stressful as being a teacher, for example, and if things go wrong I don’t have lives at stake!
