Being vegan or eating less meat (for example not eating meat once or twice a week) would be great for planet and your own health.
Livestock farming has a huge impact on environment. It contributes to land and water degradation and deforestation. Animal farming contributes 18% of human produced greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.
If all grain were fed to humans instead of animals, we could feed an extra 3.5 billion people.
Animal farming causes great but unnecessary animal suffering because of the poor conditions in which they are kept and breed. These conditions cause animals to get sick a lot, so they are feed antibiotics, which in turn contribute hugely to antibiotic resistance.
Most importantly, you don’t need to eat meat to be healthy. More and more top performing sportsmen and women are switching to vegan diet as it helps them stay healthy, more energetic and recover quicker! Google some names.
So yes, being vegan is a good thing. But every small effort to be more environmentally friendly made by each of us is equally important and powerful.
